Trackmania Nations was created as the multi player version of Trackmania, the sole purpose of Nations was to create an excellent online racing game for competitions. That competition was the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC). The game was released for free so everyone could download and start training for their national qualifiers. Trackmania quickly became a favorite for all those racing fans not obsessed by realism. In fact, you can actually argue that Trackmania has a lot of madness within the game. Trackmania is really simple to get into, you can use the 4 arrow keys to control the vehicle and of course the quickest racer wins. However the tracks offer a completely different challenge, the cars go at amazing speeds and the tracks offer a series of jumps, loops, traps, barriers and other obstacles in the way. Although you can play on your own against AI opponents, the real beauty is in the online game play. When you race against others you cannot really affect them physically, they are ghosts, that means you cannot hit them. There are tracks that are incredibly difficult and you may end up punching your monitor in frustration. That doesn't mean you won't have fun with the game, on the contrary, this game is LOADS of fun, and its free! |
